Structural Concrete – Quo Vadis?
fib Fellow Walter Kaufmann is the Chair of Concrete Structures and Bridge Design at ETH Zurich. Drawing on over 15 years of industry experience, his research focuses on mechanical modelling and large-scale testing to maximise the service life of existing structures and design efficient new ones.
Multi-scale assessment of reinforcement corrosion
Els Verstrynge is professor at the Civil Engineering Department (KU Leuven, Belgium). Her research aims at improving structural safety, durability and circularity of existing structures through multi-scale assessment of degradation from material to structural level, using advanced NDT, experimental and numerical techniques.
Modular circularity of RC structures
Prof. Dr. Prof. h.c. Peter Mark is a full professor of Concrete Structures at Ruhr University Bochum, Germany. His research focusses on automated modular fabrication, lifecycle engineering, reuse and circularity of RC structures. He also works as an independent checking engineer and as a consultant engineer.
Pathways to climate-neutral and resource-efficient construction
Viktor Mechtcherine is Director of the Institute for Construction Materials at TU Dresden. His research focuses on digital fabrication, sustainable cement-based materials, and resource-efficient construction. He is Speaker of the DFG Cluster of Excellence CARE and a member of the German National Academy of Science and Engineering.
