Some national codes include nonmetallic fibers as reinforcement for concrete, the Model Code include warnings on the use of fibers sensible to temperature or creep, and EC2 annex L only accept steel fibers. The CENTC250/SC2 generated a WG3 to analyze the options of considering other type of fibers. This Special Sessions aims to disseminate the works related to this topic. The aspects to be covered will be (open to other contributions in the aim of this proposal):
- Structure of the working group CEN TC 250/SC2/WG3 and its running activities
- Technical issues related with the incorporation of nonmetallic fibers in the structural codes, and proposals for the codes adaptation
- Temperature considerations or treatment of long term actions response
- Research results related to studies on nonmetallic FRC
- Running applications where nonmetallic fibers are used covering structural contribution
- Applicability of the testing method to characterize FRC made with nonmetallic fibers
